My Music

Welcome to my music area. Most of my tunes were composed using an Amiga 500 computer running Noise Tracker 2.0, Protracker 2.04 and later Protracker 3.15. This means 8-bits, 22Khz and only 4 audio channels. I also got a GUS Interwave on the PC that I used along FastTracker II but I never really got used to it. Later on I acquired "professional" MIDI gear but sold most of it primarily because I didn't have time to use it. I only kept my mixing desk (A small Mackie 1402VLZ) and my reference monitors (A pair of Event PS8s). To play the tunes in MOD format you will need a tool such as ModPlug, I have included MP3 versions of the best tunes though. The rating is mostly based on my friends' feedback. The best tunes are also available in MP3 format. Any further feedback is also welcome.

The Present

I haven't done almost anything in the last years but I'm rebuilding my studio so I'm starting to produce again. I'm also making music the C-64, my first love regarding electronic music.

2001 Unwanted Love
Dance My first tune using professional gear: Yamaha AN1x and TX7, Novation Drum Station, and a Creamware's Pulsar I DSP board. Vocals by my wife (Adriana, aka Drika). The song was recorder dry, without effects or compression. Some channels were set at wrong volumes. I lost the original tracks and this is the only remaining copy of the final mix left. The Progress

Less time and less tunes, but I progressed (technically speaking) with tunes such as "Hallucination" and "Sadness".

1999 Amiga Style
Demo My official LAST AMIGA TUNE. I placed my Amiga inside a box and have never opened it since then. I tried to put all my amiga memories together. I Hope that some of the melodies help you to remember this marvellous 80's computer. MP3: EG-1999-Amiga_style.mp3 2,7MB
MOD: EG-1999-Amiga_style.mod
1998 Hallucination
Demo My best tune to date, according to most listeners. There are 3 tunes in one. The 5 stars are for the first. There's a little problem at the end of the last tune which is fixed by a fade down on the MP3 version. I started this tune in 1996 but couldn't find time to finish it until 1998. MP3: EG-1998-Hallucination.mp3 1,5MB
MOD: EG-1998-Hallucination.mod
1998 Sadness
Slow song An unfinished song composed at a very sad moment. This is also the prefered one by most non-electronic people after The Pyramid. MP3: EG-1998-Sadness.mp3 0,8MB
XM: EG-1998-Sadness.xm
1998 Horror house
Demo Meaningless tune with a good deal of own samples. MOD: EG-1998-Horror_house.mod
1997 Puzzle
Demo This one was for a puzzle game by Javier Viveros (aka Xavirus Hacker), -a friend of mine-. I composed this tune in a very few hours and the structure/melody is rather simple but it is just the kind of sweet demo music I like. MP3: EG-1997-Puzzle.mp3 1,4MB
MOD: EG-1997-Puzzle.mod
1997 Don't vote 4 me
Demo Made for a compo called "The Trackering" on the Internet. I didn't know if I win but just in case I named the song appropriately. The samples were supplied by the compo organizer. MOD: EG-1997-Dont_vote_4_me.mod
1996 Wicked Monsters
Demo For DELTA issue. 2 songs in one. The last one is a slow but nice one. MOD: EG-1996-Wicked_monsters.mod
1996 Waters of love
Demo/Dance Strange name. I did this one when I just met my wife for the first time. XM: EG-1996-Waters_of_love.xm
1996 Teknocrap
Techno The name says it all. Voices by me. MOD: EG-1996-Teknocrap.mod
1996 Stimpy
Chip 1 sample, 1 pattern tune. MOD: EG-1996-Stimpy.mod
1996 Orgasmus
Techno/Joke Made with some own samples. It is a joke about the kind of vocabulary used by my friend Marco Duarte. His voices were sampled during a voice conversation while he was telling the merits of the Street Fighter movie. The asking voice is mine. S3M: EG-1996-Orgasmus_el_grosero.s3m
1996 On the road
Rock Made with 90% of own samples. Although the goal of imitating a traditional style was rather accomplished, the song itself sucks. MOD: EG-1996-On_the_road.mod
1996 Nasty Demo
Demo/Chip For the "Raster Dies!" demo. Not quite a good result, composed in a few hours. The last minute contains a chip part that is very nice in my own opinion. MOD: EG-1996-Nasty_demo.mod
1996 More than old
Demo For the latest issue of DELTA (4). Mix of demo music, western and maybe a bit of drum and bass. MOD: EG-1996-More_than_old.mod
1996 Midnight's freaks
Demo DELTA PC issue 1 tune. I was very limited in space and wanted to do something that didn't sound very "nintendo". Not quite remarkable but it was a very known one and got its devotees. "Go!" sample by me. Composed in 5 hours. The original tune for DELTA 1 was "Byte Mania" but it didn't sound well be cause the player used at that time was very primitive and had problems with very short "chip" samples. MP3: EG-1996-Midnights_Freaks.mp3 1,3MB
MOD: EG-1996-Midnights_Freaks.mod
1996 Do what I need
Demo I had to do a very short (in size) tune for DELTA PC be cause the player wouldn't fit in memory and as it didn't like chip samples (they produced noise) I had to work with little real samples. MOD: EG-1996-Do_what_I_need.mod
1996 Cool Travels
Chip Hope so. MOD: EG-1996-Cool_travels.mod
1996 Byte Mania
Chip 3 tunes in 1. MOD: EG-1996-Byte_mania.mod
1996 Black Thoughts
Techno Used for an issue of DELTA PC. MOD: EG-1996-Black_thoughts.mod

The Golden Era

This was my most productive period of time. I used to release a new song every two weeks. Jeu Azarru arranged a collection of samples organized by type that was of great help.

1995 Walkers
Demo My technically most perfect tune ever. Used by a videoclip shown at school. Maybe not interesting but quite a good result for the 4-channels MOD format. MP3: EG-1995-Walkers.mp3 1,1MB
MOD: EG-1995-Walkers.mod
1995 Unreal illusion
Slow Song Of course that an "illusion" is not real by definition. Well, now you see why composing this kind of tunes is quite disturbing. MOD: EG-1995-Unreal_illusion.mod
1995 Trash'n'Bullshits
Chip Exactly that. MOD: EG-1995-Trash_and_bullshits.mod
1995 The Ship
Chip My first chip tune. MOD: EG-1995-The_Ship.mod
1995 The right change
Slow song A lot of people like this kind of music. There is some nice melody in the middle, but you have to eat the first part. It is still a cheesy music style. I've warned you. MOD: EG-1995-The_right_change.mod
1995 The pyramid
Slow song This is the more attractive tune I've composed according to people who doesn't like electronic music. They may think it is complex be cause of chord structure but it was just a one-day experiment. MOD: EG-1995-The_pyramid.mod
1995 The machine is back
New Age Some effects but no catchy melody. I tried to make something like Skywars but no luck this time. MOD: EG-1995-The_machine_is_back.mod
1995 Speed Burner
Pop Nice tune without any interesting ideas. MOD: EG-1995-Speed_burner.mod
1995 Sony Bobo
Techno/Joke Sony was one of my best friends who just couldn't stand up to an insult as simple as "bobo" (silly). The tune is technically very good despiting its goal. Voices by Mauro Quiñonez, Pedro Sotelo and me. MP3: EG-1995-Sony_bobo.mp3 1,4MB
MOD: EG-1995-Sony_bobo.mod
1995 Son todos culeados
Techno/Joke Made to make fun of a heavy-metal guy at my classroom who used to say that all the time. Voices by Pedro Sotelo, another school mate. MOD: EG-1995-Son_todos_culeados.mod
1995 Sky Wars
Demo According to many friends, this is my best tune ever. I don't quite agree considering its simplicity and the use of very low fidelity ripped samples. But "less is more" they say. MP3: EG-1995-Sky_wars.mp3 2,5MB
MOD: EG-1995-Sky_wars.mod
1995 No Choice
Techno This would be a very good tune (inspired by Lotus) if it wasn't for my crappy voice samples. MOD: EG-1995-No_choice.mod
1995 Kombi 2
Demo Christian asked me to make something that really sounds like techno. I didn't acheived that but he was happy with the song anyway. Look for the Kombi 1 description. Voices by me MOD: EG-1995-Kombi2.mod
1995 Just Cool
Demo Regardless of the name, there's nothing cool about this one. There is a nice chip/demo part in the middle though. MOD: EG-1995-Just_cool.mod
1995 Jarking
Demo I bothered to make this kiddy tune just be cause I didn't have a clue about where to take the song. MOD: EG-1995-Jarkind.mod
1995 It was my mistake
Demo Very simple tune without interesting ideas. Some chip parts. MOD: EG-1995-It_was_my_mistake.mod
1995 God's hands
Demo Unfinished tune. Some melody at the end was done by Alexander Arzberger, aka "Renderman". MOD: EG-1995-Gods_hands.mod
1995 Forgotten Places
New Age Don't pay attention to the very first seconds of things song, it gets interesting later. Not a hit but I achieved many melodies I had on my head with this one. MOD: EG-1995-Forgotten_places.mod
1995 Digital Screams
Demo Composed for DELTA II (Amiga). It took me several weeks to finish this song. It is considered by many among the best I did. MP3: EG-1995-Digital_screams.mp3 2,3 MB
MOD: EG-1995-Digital_screams.mod
1995 1995 Blues
Demo This is un unfinished song. I didn't remember I composed this song until I found it on a rusty disk in 1999. MOD: EG-1995-Blues.mod

First Attempts

It actually took me a lot of time to really be able to produce something decent. I used to spend whole nights getting just terrible noise as result. My mom used to say that I had a carrot in my ears. My father in fact thought that there was something wrong with me because I used to leave my C-64 turned on just to listen to its "interference".

1994 Air and Sea
New Age I composed this song some days before christmas. This is the first tune that fulfilled all my expectations as a computer musician. I believe this is my first "real tune". Although the melody is darky and a bit boring at the beginning, technicaly, there's nothing wrong with this tune. MOD: EG-1994-Air_and_sea.mod
1994 Saturn's Rings
New age Composed by Jeu Azarru (Juan Eduardo de Urraza) and me attempting to win a competition. It was a general music competition, not MOD specific, so just figure out the results. MOD: EG-1994-Saturns_rings.mod
1994 Kombi
Techno/Joke Christian Gómez, a friend of mine -who was a Volkswagen owner- asked me to do a song to laugh about japanese cars, specially Mazdas. Voices by Jeu Azarru (Juan Eduardo de Urraza). MOD: EG-1994-Kombi.mod
1994 José
Techno/Joke Joke about a friend who was very proud about owning an original copy of Dragon's Lair. He also had a pirate copy of Team 17's Over Drive that he didn't want to lend. Voices by Jeu Azarru (Juan Eduardo de Urraza) and Orgasmus (Marco Duarte). Although the song is very crappy, it was spread like hell and gave us a very good fame, as the authors of "José". It was even played at a computer exposition for several days in order to show the quality of some computer speakers. MOD: EG-1994-Jose.mod
1994 The Law
Demo Inspired by the Amiga game Zool. Some interesting melody after a few minutes. MOD: EG-1994-The_Law.mod
1994 Fast Dream
Demo Not very mono compatible. Some new-age parts. MOD: EG-1994-Fast_Dream.mod
1994 Incineration
Demo I did this one in a couple of hours and was very proud about the time it took. I used to spend no less than 8 hours before. Resource available on request MOD: EG-1994-Incineration.mod
1994 Indifference
Slow Song This one was for the first issue of DELTA (Amiga). I thought I achieved something very good at that time. The song is very slow and boring, but some people like it. Resource available on request MOD: EG-1994-Indifference.mod
1994 Meditation I composed this song for my own version of ELIZA on the Amiga called FRED (not Freud). Some progress at the bass department and some correct drums only on certain patterns. Resource available on request MOD: EG-1994-Meditation.mod
1994 Tintoretto Still not much luck with drum patterns. I don't even need to mention the melody. Well, this one also reminds me those sleepless nights trying to make music out of noise and bad ear. Resource available on request MOD: EG-1994-Tintoretto.mod
1993 Dios One of my first attempts. I didn't even realize how to program a drum pattern at that time. I have put this song here for historical reasons only. Resource available on request MOD: EG-1993-Dios.mod
